REACH OUT |
Without saying too much the documentary below opened up a range of emotions for me.
" To end your own life is done in the moment"
"To reach out you have saved your own life"
When researching for my post about suicide. I found i would often get angry about the USE of the word SUICIDE its a word our vulnerable mind clings to
when we are emotionally low and it shouldn't be this way.
We need to take the suicide meaning and its surrounding language away from vulnerable mindsets and deal with prevention and what has lead you to this emotional and mental state.
Struggles
In turn, time & age, everyone of us will be confronted with profound
challenges from time to time—job loss, legal problems, divorce, injury
or illness, and bereavement. These situations can be devastating. Such
setbacks are often accompanied by financial reversals, such as
bankruptcy or home foreclosure.
But these experiences of loss,
disappointment, and misfortune help us appreciate what—and who—we have.
Most of the time, we bounce back from adversity. The degree to which
we're able to do so is called resilience. But sometimes a person lacks
the support system or inner resources to rally after a hard blow.
Depression, an anxiety disorder, or some other mental illness may follow.
Its
at this time we need to get help ring your GP, call the Samaritans (116 123 (ROI), don't be afraid, just go and talk to
someone, counseling will help, go online, walk into a
voluntary mental health organization (If open) shame on them if they turn you
away!
Do
this before you start self treating yourself by drinking, using drugs,
self-harm, suicide, even if you have started self treating break the
cycle reach out for help and keep reaching out. keep fighting the negatives within your mind.
As I researched and pointed before there is no walk in clinics in ireland.
You have to ring yourself at this point you have made a positive action (reaching out )
Only negative, is to be told you could be waiting a week to get screened for help by most organizations ? in which a lot can happen ? Which makes a week way too long for anyone who is reaching out !

Prevention Action
We need to be targeting primary schools and involved children in a range of training initiatives around suicide prevention and emotional/mental health promotion and start to close the door on suicide. Its been left open far too long imo. We also need full trained counselors working onsite with local GPs.
Here is the HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention and strategy 2015
which is on the right path but it doesn't show if its targeting primary schools ?
I could be wrong.
A way forward ?
Also I came across an interesting article on
Suicidal behavior is a disease, psychiatrists argue click below to view.
